There is something theological about boys digging for worms. I don’t know what it is; I’m dull. But there is joy in discovery. The simpler discoveries are always more profound.

To know that there is life “under there”, something lives there, it is meant to be there…

It, the discovery, is God’s silent voice reminding us that He has already been here, His signature is under every spade we turn.

We may be turning the soil here for the first time, but others have been here before us. They gardened here too. The soil is rich. They found messages too.

Today we got muddy and found worms. Today we heard the echo of Creation: it is good.
