Part of the fun of summer is having cousins visit from out of state. Our family from San Diego, California, visited for a week. We did all the things one expects to do in Colorado: BBQ, visit Ouray and Ridgway, eat lunch at the True Grit restaurant, play in a tree house, visit a friend’s ranch, and horseback riding.
The two smallest boys, both 8 years old, ventured to pitch a tent in the backyard and camp overnight. We cold hear giggling and see flashlight beams until midnight when they finally fell asleep. In the morning we heard stories of a large bear (or wolf) that came by the tent! I told them they were lucky they weren’t eaten and how brave they were–I didn’t mention that there aren’t any bear or wolves anywhere near here.
