We made a Saturday excursion to a new restaurant and a new trail. Before we went exploring along the new trail we stopped at Rocky Mountain Pantry, a local food store and lunch counter. We had some great sub sandwiches and fresh baked ginger snaps. Then off to the new trail along the Gunnison River: Cool Rocks Trail.
The drive to the trail head is rugged, you should have a Jeep or truck, also, it’s one lane with a steep drop-off: take your time and yield to other drivers(!). Once you get near the river you will be glad you took the chance! And you will see why it’s called Cool Rocks!
